Just a friendly reminder your NY STAR application is due March 1. If you just purchased a home or maybe not sure if you have a STAR benefit, apply today. All home owners in NYS are eligible for a reduction in their property taxes on their primary home, called the STAR benefit. There are additional STAR benefits for veterans, seniors, and lower income households.

Do it today or possibly lose it! If you recently bought a NY home or are not familiar with STAR read on. Your STAR application must be postmarked or received by your assessor’s office by Taxable Status Date. (In most communities, Taxable Status Date is March 1, but visit Municipal Profiles to find the assessment calendar for your municipality.) Click her for NYS Tax department and more info.
